District heating

District heating

District heating makes possible significant financial savings and a drastic reduction in CO2 emissions. Through a network of insulated underground pipes capable of reaching long distances, heat is distributed from the generating plant over several kilometres. The power plants are fuelled by natural gas, biomass and geothermal energy.

The scenario

Today Cogeninfra is recognised as one of the leading operators in Italy and abroad in the district heating sector. It is currently among the top 12 operators nationwide in the district heating market, with 12 plants in Piedmont, Lombardy, Emilia Romagna, Umbria, Liguria, and Friuli Venezia Giulia.
