Industrial Transition Fund: an opportunity for businesses with the support of Cogeninfra

The Industrial Transition Support Fund, established by directorate decree on 23 December 2024, represents an extraordinary opportunity for Italian companies interested in implementing environmental protection and energy efficiency improvement measures.

With an initial budget of €400 million, the fund aims to incentivise investment programmes through a ranking evaluation procedure.

Applications can be submitted from 5 February 2025 at 12 a.m. noon via a dedicated portal.

Who is it for?

The subsidies are granted to businesses of any size operating throughout Italy. Greater attention is given to:

  • Energy-intensive businesses, which are allocated 50% of the available resources.
  • Projects carried out in the regions of southern Italy (Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Puglia, Sardinia and Sicily), which are allocated 40% of the resources.

What does the fund finance?

Investment programmes must relate to a single production unit of the proposing company and must pursue at least one of the following objectives:

  1. greater energy efficiency in the execution of business activities, such as cogeneration plants, plants for the production of energy from renewable sources and/or
  2. efficient use of resources, through a reduction in their use, including through the reuse, recycling or recovery of raw materials and/or the use of recycled raw materials.

Investment programmes must be aimed exclusively at improving the environmental protection of business processes.
